Donald Gordon Winton, 84, passed away on October 2, 2025. He was born on March 16, 1941, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, where he was raised by his parents, Reginald and Ruth Winton.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, after his four years of service, he spent several years working with the Oaklawn Improvement District before returning to McConnell Air Force Base as a civilian employee in the Civil Engineering Squadron (CES). Following his retirement, Don once again returned to the Oaklawn Improvement District, where he served on the Board of Directors.
Throughout his life, Don held a deep love for the Oaklawn community and the many friendships he made there. One of his greatest joys was spending weekends with his wife and their dear friends Mike and Tina, cooking breakfast for the local seniors, a tradition that brought him immense pride and happiness.
Don loved his family above all else and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. However, it didn’t take long in any conversation before he’d start talking about his favorite time of year – his annual camping and fishing trip to Fall River. What began as a small getaway with Uncle Ronnie, Aunt Talma, Ron and Kathy Smith, a few nieces, nephews and grandkids soon grew into a large, lively gathering filled with laughter, hunting for shad, running trout lines, and many other memories that will last a life time. Before long, his brother Ed and Wife Denise, and many friends joined in, turning it into an event everyone looked forward to each year.
Don will be remembered for his loyalty, kindness, and the quiet humor he carried through every season of his life. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the friendships he built, and the community he helped shape.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Donald was preceded by his parents, Reginald Winton and Ruth Winton; and his brothers David G. Winton, Wayne G. Winton, and Robert V. Winton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patty; son, Chad (Christina) Winton; grandchildren, Brandon Winton, Austin Winton, and Hope Winton.
